If you’re thinking about having your carpets cleaned, we encourage you to follow these four steps:

STEP No1: Make a commitment to yourself to get your carpets cleaned. The longer they remain dirty, the sooner they’ll wear out and the more chance there will be of those pollutants (which are so efficiently trapped within your carpet for a period of time) being released back into the air.

STEP No2: List your objectives. Do you want only the dirt removed or do you want all the bacteria, fungus and other pollutants removed as well? Do you want to risk having the work done at the cheapest possible price - knowing that the job might not be satisfactory and that the company might not even be in business tomorrow - or do you want to work with an honest, reputable company who would offer a thorough and professional service?

STEP No3: Ask questions. The way you learn about a company is to ask specific questions and listen carefully to the answers. Here are eight questions to ask a carpet cleaner before he begins to clean your carpet:

  1. What method of carpet cleaning do you recommend to clean my particular carpet?
  2. How often do you recommend I get my carpets cleaned?
  3. What results should I expect from the clean?
  4. Will specific spots and stains also be removed during the general clean?
  5. If you are performing a wet clean, how long will it be before my carpet is dry?
  6. Are there any aftercare instructions I should adhere to following the clean?
  7. What training have you had in cleaning carpets?
  8. Are you a member of an organisation or association such as the NCCA?


STEP No4: Once you’re satisfied that you’re working with an honest, competent professional, invite him to your home and ask for a quotation in writing. A written quotation gives you the assurance that you know exactly what your job will cost and what the expected results will be - no surprises.
